September 17-24, 2017

Parish Council meeting — Wednesday, September 20, at 7 pm in the church hall. Minutes from the June meeting will be available at the meeting. All parish members may attend.

Happy birthday! We offer a prayer of thanks for our church friends with a birthday this week. Donn Hope, who has remade our church lawn and done so much else around here this summer, celebrates on September 20. Do you know we keep a birthday and anniversary list in the church office? We hope you are on it—why not check with Kelly MacKay or Jane Waterston to make sure.

Igloo@206 restarts for the fall on Tuesday, September 26, 11-2 pm in the church hall. This is a monthly social for Inuit and others (maybe you?) who welcome an opportunity to meet and get to know people from Canada’s North. The lunch is hosted by St. Margaret’s volunteers; donations of baked goods are welcome.

Eyeglasses found: A pair of women’s eyeglasses and case (Liz Claiborne) have been found in the hall kitchen. Please contact Kelly, Parish Administrator, if these sound like yours. Do you know we have a lost and found basket in the church hall, below the Mission bulletin board on your left inside the double door.

Open Table’s free community meals for students start up again this afternoon, September 17, at Centre 454, 454 King Edward (enter by the black gates), doors open at 5:30 pm, food served at 6:00p pm (by members of St. Paul’s Eastern and Knox Presbyterian churches). If you are a student this fall, try it out! Fun Fact: The Open Table program is one of our own Rob Douglas’ many brainchildren.

Is Christian Faith Dishonest? — The Canadian Scientific and Christian Affiliation (CSCA) invites you to a talk explaining how we can be intellectually honest toward both God and scientific inquiry. Wed. Sept. 20, 7 PM – Laurentian Leadership Centre, 252 Metcalfe St. More info:

St. Albans Church (King Edward and Daly) is 150 years old, and the parish is celebrating with a Choral Evensong & Reception at 5pm on Sunday Sept. 24. There will be a free-will offering in support of the St. Albans Mission & Ministry Fund, which is used to support Campus Ministry at uOttawa.  All are welcome.

Mary Raymont, who fondly remembers meetings at St. Margaret’s during the 1970s, came by for a tour and visit with warden Jane Waterston on September 15.
